TYPE AND FORM
VERNACULAR LOGO
1. Aashirvaad
1. Here I started by observing the characteristics of the Type used in the English logo, they were:
-
Set width of characters is almost equal to the x height
-
Little flowy, with some end strokes stretched (R)
-
Consistent thickness of strokes other than the ends
-
Ends with curves on the inner-facing side

2. Tracing elements from the logo.
3. Forming guidelines, like x-height, kerning, ascender and descender lines for the new logo based on the old one.

4. Creating characters in Hindi based on the guidelines formed and testing with variations.

2. Nykaa
This logo was more playful than the previous one, with characteristics like:
-
Inconsistent stroke weight
-
Axis/ Stress of the last two characters is in different directions
-
Vertically stretched, closely placed characters
-
Fun and Vibrant

While browsing, I came across a Devanagari font that could be modified to match the traits of the original logo.
Font used for reference :- Tillana by Indian Type Foundry
Next I proceeded by forming guidelines, like x-height, kerning, ascender and descender lines for the new logo based on the old one.

3. Pringles
The process here can be summarized the same four steps stated in the previous logos. I wanted to choose this logo since it so memorable and interesting!
Here are some sketches I did before starting and found that drawing the original logo by hand helped me see some features with more clarity.
IMAGE ABSTRACTION
This was an assignment which taught me quite a lot. We had to pick an organism and create logos relevant in different industries, inspired by its form. Here are some sketches, I tried to study the poses, shapes and lines in a Flamingo. I did some quick realistic sketches, some studeis breaking down its anatomy and came up with the six logos on the right side.
